Rambam - Sefer HaMitzvos As Divided for The Daily Learning Schedule Negative Mitzvah 262 |
Day 74 | Day 76 |
This is not an error of duplication. The full-fledged version of this Mitzvah are many and change for those who are learning the one/three chapter a day. The Message for the day from "Bringing Heaven Down to Earth" at the end of this Mitzvah is different than that of yesterday.Negative Mitzvah 262: It is forbidden to neglect a wife's rights
Exodus 21:10 "He shall not diminish her food, her clothing, or rights of marriage"When a master (or his son) marries his Jewish maidservant, he must treat her properly.
The Torah cautions him not to neglect her rights and provide her with all her needs. This Negative Mitzvah applies not only to a maidservant, but any Jewish wife.
The river you travel will have its share of turbulence. It is an inevitable and inescapable ingredient of every river every man has ever travelled. The choice is where you would like that turbulence. You can have it worrying about what path to take and what will be there and who to rely upon and what they will do to you and where you will go and what you should do when you get there...Or you can stay above all that and fulfil your quota of turbulence as the Talmudic Master of Rogotchov did.
The famed Rabbi Yosef Rosen of Rogotchov, once confided that the Sabbath was the hardest day of his week. Every other day, when a thousand theories on a single page of Talmud would barrage into his mind, he could restrain them by writing. On the Sabbath, however, one is not allowed to write. Everyone has his share of turbulence. You decide in which world yours should be.
