Notes:
- (Back to text) Reb Hendel was a chassid who exemplified many chassidic traits - humility, warmth of heart, compassion, fervent worship - though he did not excel in the intellectual mastery of chassidic thought.
An elder chassid when the late Rebbe, R. Yosef Yitzchak, was a child, he had a profound influence on the Rebbe-to-be, and was often cited in the Rebbe's sichot.
